Hello Oaklawn Friends and Families,
We will be starting our 7th week of “At Home Learning” on Monday and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all you are doing to support your family and children. Change in routine and structure can be difficult. Frustration and stress can be amplified when we have less control of the situation. Know that what you are doing to support your family and children during this time is enough. Take a moment to reflect on what has been going well and celebrate that with your family. Use this time together to make memories and talk about what your family enjoys and what new activities you might try. At the Johanknecht home we have started making homemade pizza on Saturday evenings. Everyone helps to add their favorite toppings. While enjoying the pizza we talk about what new toppings we could try next week.
If there are struggles at home, choose one or two things that you would like to improve. It is ok to ask friends and teachers for advice. Talk with your child during a calm time about the concern so they can share their thoughts and help develop solutions. Then set a goal together and use small steps to make a change.
May 4th kicks off teacher appreciation week. Help us show appreciation for the Oaklawn team by submitting a picture or short video of your child or family with a note of personal message, thank you or inspirational quote. Submit the picture or video with your phone or computer to this link: https://forms.gle/EyMzsuRZxzVkveu38
The Oaklawn Staff is wishing you and your family well!
