Oaklawn Elementary School is one of thirteen elementary schools in the Oshkosh Area School District in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Oaklawn Elementary serves students in Kindergarten thru 5th grade and has a population of approximately 430 students with diverse backgrounds. Although the school is in an urban setting some of the students live in the rural surrounding area.
The student population identifies as 0.4% American Indian or Alaskan Native, 7.1% Asian, 4.5% Black or African American, 0.8% Hispanic or Latino, 5.3% are Middle Eastern, 77.8% White, and 4.1% two or more races. In addition, 15% of the student population are identified with disabilities, 57% are economically disadvantaged and 15% are identified as English Language Learners. There are approximately nine different languages represented by the ELL population.
The professional staff at Oaklawn consists of one principal, eighteen regular classroom teachers, five special education teachers, two speech and language teachers, one education psychologist, one guidance counselor, one program support person, two ELL teachers, and three specialist teachers (art, music, and physical education), one Math IST-teacher and two Literacy IST-teachers.
